Little World Empire

My World Vision
Little Empire

On March 15th, 2018, I received a call from my editor at FriesenPress to discuss the beginning of my dream come true! I wanted to write a children’s book about loving someone even if they were different! I also had a dream of where I wanted to take this after the book was released, which was July 25th, 2019!

I envisioned having the little extras, that children could have along with the book! Stickers, colouring pages, fridge magnets, pens, notebooks, shirts, etc! A little franchise, a small empire to be exact!

With the help of a video that was included in my package, the author of “The Wealthy Barber”, the Chilton method expressed on that very video to see your book as a small business! Marketing was key and strategy was important! Having worked retail most of my life, as a manager I had to ensure sales were good and how to market the product!

This helped me in so many ways with the journey of getting my book out there! What would make me different, stand out and catch both adult’s and children’s attention!

I am proud today of how far I have come, how much hard work I have put into this and how much pounding the pavement as well as social media presence is necessary to succeed in this book adventure!

If you are willing to work hard for what you want, you can achieve it!

Steps to help!

The second part of my St. Luke’s School visit was a huge success! With the junior grades we discussed more on the publishing and marketing aspect of a book and what an author has to go through to get their book out into the world!

I had some amazing questions asked by some very interested students, making the day inspirational for me! Hearing what they thought of the story and pictures was so satisfying as they all assured me that the story was really really good! In fact, I even had some very keen students offering amazing ideas for my next book for Bugsy and Taz!

This is the feedback that I need to ensure that I hit the nail on the head with my entire thought process from start to finish, with successful results in the end!

All the students and teachers were so welcoming and so complimentary that I left the school with a huge heart filled with joy! What more could an author want but to see first hand how all their hard work has paid off and then some!

As I left the school for the day I was greeted with hugs and smiles from the primary children who remembered me being there for them the week before and as I walked to my car I felt such an immense sense of accomplishment and pride! My school had welcomed me home with open arms, open hearts and open minds!! Thank you so very much again St. Luke’s, I am truly proud of being a part of your history!

Returning to a World of yesterday!

Big thank you to Principal Marcia Lynch

Today was a very emotional and surreal day for me! I got to do the first of two reading days for the children at St. Luke’s Catholic School, a school I attended 50 years ago in kindergarten through to grade 5!

The primary grades were so much fun to read to as always, with their extreme enthusiasm and allllll their amazing questions and tales! It truly is the best experience seeing my book in a child’s hand and hearing them read it along with me! Having them tell me they love the book, or, they want to be a writer or see their eyes light up at the pictures just warms my heart!

I am ready…let’s read!!

Thank you again St. Luke’s for making my day so special and I look forward to next week!

My tree 50 years later!!!
